What are you most proud of about Townsend?:
Our area was once known as the leather making capital of the world.  While most tanneries eventually shut down or moved overseas, Townsend has continued to make high-quality leather and provide jobs for our community since 1969.  There is a great sense of pride to be a part of the Townsend family!

Here I am with my husband, Eric, who I met at Townsend.  I love the outdoors, especially the summer and fall months here in the Adirondacks, and enjoy spending time swimming and boating on the lake with our son and daughter.

Alison’s proudest moment:
I am most proud that I have a strong personality and am able to stand up for myself when I feel it is necessary.  Growing up with brothers gave me “tougher skin” and I learned how to speak my mind without overstepping.

About the photo:
I am an avid fisherman with a passion for the backwoods of the Adirondacks. Fishing the backwoods requires carrying your canoe and your gear into a remote pond in hopes of catching a trophy Brook Trout. It gives the opportunity to “get away from it all” and enjoy the solitude, the calm and the beauty and awe of nature. The icing on the cake, but not absolutely necessary is a nice Brook Trout as shown in the pictures above.

Bob’s important life lessons learned:
Know what’s important in life!

Family first and foremost, always be polite, respectful and honest and always stay grounded (don’t take yourself too seriously)

My family and my love of the outdoors keep me grounded.

About the photo:
In the past year or two, we have had a lot of fun with Townsend t-shirts and Friday t-shirt theme days!  We have taken so many cool photos with partners, choosing one to use here is tough!  The Get Shit Done shirts have become iconic at Townsend though, all of our partners love them, customers take them home too.   I think it just is a really loose way of being fun yet emphatically proud about being hard working.  Jess, who is pictured with me is arguably one of our hardest working partners and really embodies the kind of drive, hunger, humbleness, and care for her fellow partners and our work that I think is so important.  It is people like Jess that make our company and culture great, and my job and influence on it that much more rewarding and fulfilling to me.

Who has been the biggest influence on Jared’s life?
It’s hard to say Terry over Sarah, Sarah has always supported me and believed in me just as I am.  She always saw in me a great person, and being with her always drove me to be the best I could as I always felt I had gotten lucky to meet such a beautiful, smart, woman.  Terry saw something in me that no one as much as he pushed to come out.  No one in my life ever put such high expectations on me and supported me in achieving things I never thought about before than him.  At each new height I reached with his direction, advice, support, encouragent, he would see my potential grow and raise the bar higher.  He gave a lot of his time to help me grow as a person, professional, and a leader in my life that I am positive without I would not be who I am today.  The lesson was to always strive for your potential and not settle for less from yourself or others that surround you.  As you improve, so does your potential to be even better.

About the photo:
Pic was taken @ The Third Rail Night club in Cortland, NY while performing with my all original heavy metal band, ENERTIA – I play bass guitar, sing backup and also did all the management and bookings. From 1996 to 2007, we played just under 800 shows in 20 different states, recorded 4 CDs which to date have sold over 10k copies – we also had a record deal in Europe/Asia for our 4th CD, “Force”. Our 5th and final CD will be released in the spring of 2014.

I worked closely with the graphic design company that created the artwork to our first 3 discs, which led the way to me becoming a graphic designer for Townsend. A little known fact: Terry let us rehearse 3 nights a week in the area that is now the finish department office from 1998 to 2005…

What Joe is passionate about:
I am very passionate about my family (my wife, Linette; son, Cody; puggle; Wiley and my amazing extended family), playing, creating collecting and listening to music (all styles with the exception of show tunes and rap), and learning (history, current news and events, reading, how to fix, repair or maintain things, home renovations, computer, technology or useless knowledge about music trivia).

Winning the First annual Townsend Leather Halloween Costume Contest- “Most Awesome Costume”

What is Larissa’s favorite Townsend Leather memory?
Pretty sure my favorite TLC memory just happened today!

Yesterday AJ Allen came to me with a tiny cup they use for their color pigments down here and told me “If we can get a Gallon of water into this cup we’ll pull in the orders that are on your wish list“. Well.. that got me to thinking…

So, last night I went out and bought a Gallon Jug of water and this morning I tipped this gallon of water upside down and put it in the little cup and left a sticky note on the jug saying “Does this mean my wish list is getting done?

See the photos to see for yourself how to Get Shit Done. I feel like this is just a good way to look at life. Looking at this cup and thinking there is no way of getting a gallon of water in there (as a liquid) limits what can be accomplished.

When you think outside the box it opens up endless amounts of possibilities.

What is Larissa passionate about?
Passionate about Theater and Singing.

About the photo:
In September 2016, I embarked on an amazing journey, taking a yoga teacher training course at the Sivananda Yoga Ashram which has literally been a life changing experience for me. The program is very intense and demanding, but every second of it is really worth it, because you get and learn so much: not only about yoga asanas, how to improve your own postures, but also how to teach yoga to different people with different needs and health conditions, etc. But it is much more that “just” asanas, and this is the beauty of it: the yoga philosophy class just gives you a different perspective about life and our purpose in life that just intuitively makes sense, and you actually experience it throughout the month, it’s AMAZING. You become so much aware of yourself, who you are and your purpose in life. The best part of all is learning that everything we need is already within us and how the practice can lead us into accessing our gifts and beauty from the inside out.

I have been blessed with the opportunity to teach and share my love of Yoga with everyone at Townsend Leather. This photo was taken just before the start of a Townzend Yoga Class and I am joined by fellow yoginis and co-workers, Alison and Sarah.

Words of Wisdom to pass along:
Live without pretending,

Love without depending,

Listen without defending,

Speak without offending.

love working at Townsend Leather!  I am proud to be a 3rd generation family member and helping to run our company these days.  I love working with our internal team as well as our reps and customers around the world.  My personal motto has long been work hard, play hard, love hard.  This photo reminds me of getting up for another work day of excitement and new challenges . . . but no matter how excited you are for work, you always need that cup of coffee first to be able to tackle your day.

What is Sarah proudest of in life:
Despite being extremely proud of Townsend and our family-run business that’s in its 3rd generation, I am most proud of my now 13-year-old daughter, Olivia.  She went through spinal surgery this year for scoliosis and through it all amazed me with her strength and resilience.  She’s just a super kid anyway – sweet, smart, witty, creative, introspective, and fun to be around.  I can’t think of anyone or anything that makes me prouder.

About the photo:
This is a picture of Barb and me on a hike in the Adirondack Mountains during the beautiful autumn season of 2012.  The picture represents two of my passions:  Family and Nature.

A message that Terry would like to leave to his family who succeeds him in the family business:
I paraphrase James Hughes from his book “Family Wealth”.   “Each succeeding generation must bring its own creativity and innovation to the family business.”  The third generation leaders of Townsend cannot rely on the successes of the previous two generations.  It must join the human, intellectual and financial capital it has inherited to the skills, passion and new ideas it brings to the family business.

About the photo:
This is the most recent photo of myself.  It was taken by my husband on our 10th year anniversary celebration in upstate NY.  I am kicking back, enjoying a glass of wine while overlooking the gorgeous Seneca Lake and wine fields.  I enjoy nature, reading, and good times with family and friends when I am not busy being a mommy to 2 beautiful little girls – who bring me my most joy!

Tricia’s happiest moment:

Who at Townsend Leather has made the most impact on Tricia?
My mentors at Townsend and at home have been my parents.  From very young, they taught me how to work hard, appreciate the small things, respect and care for people, and how to embrace life.  They are the two of the most selfless, hardworking, and loving people I know.   I thank them for all of these life skills and all of my blessings today.  With me and my siblings running the family business, I hope they can enjoy some new hobbies, the grandkids, and each other.
